Amazing service, food and location. Known for Selection of seafood on the menu, view of the harbour, extensive wine list. We ordered a bottle of the doyles red. Wonderful seafood at a reasonable price. I suspect instead of just mentioning this is just a charge imposed by the bank, as it was described to us. It is an absolute must if you have visitors from out of town...they will never forget it. And the food and the service has always been fantastic. The service was good, but the waitress made a little too much chit chat - I like to eat quietly or talking amongst friends. All our main meals were way over priced. And it is not true. Another 10 minutes before the main meal arrived. The prices are now a rip off. Is Doyles on the Beach currently accepting reservations? The $8 bottle of wine was $50. I am not sure, but this is a high end restaurant even if you are on patio seating. So I don't know where some of your bad reviews for doyals have come from. It seems the owners take their customers for fools and I imagine that the majority of their clientele are tourists who stumble blindly into this trap of 'pay-through-the-nose-for-a-view'. Also great to see a restaurant abiding by covid distancing . It was a 6 out of 10. That said, she was nice and I'm probably too passionate about food. How is Doyles on the Beach restaurant rated? With regard to service my son wanted to know if he could have a smaller serve of chips and a smaller serve of chips with his main $48 battered fish, This is their signature dish and we were met with an emphatic NO. When it came to pay, they charge a 10% weekend surcharge and also took 15mins to work out how to pay the bill due to "human error" resulting in missing the ferry and needing to wait around for 45mins. After that was cleared, the waitress asked if we wanted desert. Are you sure you want to delete this answer? It was a 6 out of 10. We ordered the seafood platter $169- garlic bread hit the table so did the main. Doyle's lives on its name and need to improve value for money and train their waiters and waitresses. TAKE A PICNIC AND SIT ON THE BEACH INSTEAD. Digital, disposable or sanitised menu provided, Sanitiser or wipes provided for customers. The day was ruined for us. Fish and chips ok the desert pavlova with rubarb and strawberries where terrible. Yes, saw a number of customers wearing shorts. What better way to start a walk, and by having a nice hot lunch on a cold winter's day when you hope off the ferry. $320 for a view out of a dirty window covered with web and a crack covered with tape!!!! And don't get me started on the bowl of pasta for $45. Once Doyels was a place to go on a special occasion. NEVER AGAIN will we dine there. Plastic garden chairs and really cheap glasses and crockery. Over cooked salmon. We will return. She went away and came back to tell us that suddenly, we had another 15 minutes. We expected a small cake to arrive for the birthday celebration but given the time constraint in spite of the sudden increase of time, we declined, paid the bill and left. Yes it can be on the expensive side but it is worth it just to sit in the sun and enjoy the food and the view. I might add the restaurant also charged a surcharge on the credit card which after stomaching the crazy priced food bill was ridiculous. Not any more. The octopus salad was a mere fork full of provisions, while the...spinach and pumpkin salad was not even enough for a caterpillar to be satisfied. If you are a resident of another country or region, please select the appropriate version of Tripadvisor for your country or region in the drop-down menu. Cheers. The restaurant would do well to look at the over profit impact to the customer and wear this cost as a consequence of the meal. I suspect it was a directive from management, one or the other. Australia has gone mad with prices and this restaurant is a prime example. If you believe this review should be removed from OpenTable, please let us know and someone will investigate. Thanks! Is our regular lunch pad for special occasions.
